About RxTGA

Prescription to Get Active (RxTGA) is an Alberta-based not-for-profit organization that provides a link between healthcare providers and fitness professionals to get Canadians active. Healthcare providers prescribe prescriptions to get active to patients not currently meeting the recommended 150 minutes of physical activity each week. With their prescription, patients can access free trials at fitness/recreation facilities, online programs and (coming soon) one-on-one support from an activity coach.

Job summary

Reporting to RxTGA’s Executive Director, the Communications Specialist supports RxTGA’s mission to help Canadians live healthier lives. They create, implement and evaluate communications plans for projects targeting RxTGA’s audiences: patients, prescribers, partners and sponsors. The successful candidate understands how to strategically approach communications and build relationships with stakeholders to achieve RxTGA’s goals. They have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Experience and qualifications:

Experience managing social media accounts and tracking metrics

Strategic, innovative, creative approach to projects

Exceptional writing abilities, including summarizing complex topics into easy-to-understand language

Ability to multitask and manage multiple deadlines

Self-motivated and able to work independently

Graphic design experience an asset

Time commitment and compensation

The Communications Specialist provides approximately 12 hours of support/month at an hourly rate of $45/hour. This is a 12-month contract position, after which an extension may be offered.
